[OpenAFS] "vos release" improvement proposals

We are running a couple of servers which we compiled with
an experimental speedup patch proposed by Rainer Toebbicke. 
"vos backup", "vos release" and also "vos move" are now 
really fast and we like it a lot. 

We have not seen any problem so far, but Rainer stated 
that there might in principle be some issues with this 
method. 

Rainer, could you comment on this and probably send that
patch to the group for inspection?
