In all seriousness, what has changed in AFS to need an up-to-date version?
In that manner, (excluding nfsv4) what has changed in the way of network
filesystems of this nature in the past few years?
Essentially, AFS provides
acl's/possible encryption/secure authentication and authorization
through kerberos/flexable ways to manage storage/clean backup
solutions/redundancy/...
while nfs provides:
files.
