You probably weren't using an id that's in the UserList on the fileserver.

My experience is that they're just that -- bogus volumes. They're
trash.  Ignore 'em or "vos zap" 'em.

Sometimes when volumes get moved around, one of the clones created for
the move gets left behind.  When the salvager tries to figure out what
they are and where they came from, especially after a crash, it seems
to determine them to be "bogus."
