[OpenAFS] PTS lookup via LDAP or apache2

Does anyone have a way to perform AFS PTS queries via LDAP?

I saw this post:

But that seems to be old and there are issues trying to get it to work 
with the current OpenLDAP release.

Or, to solve the actual problem we have, does anyone know of an Apache2 
module that controls access based on AFS PTS group membership?

We're trying to avoid syncronizing PTS with anything else.  The current 
method of execing and parsing pts membership output doesn't scale very 
well.
