-showmounts implies -nowrite, and so is safe to use on a running fileserver 
without taking the volume offline.  However, if you want to run this on a 
whole partition at once, you should run the salvager directly, as 'bos 
salvage' is not smart enough to know when it does not need to shut down the 
fileserver.
