[OpenAFS] linux sparc64 volserver crashes (both 1.4.2 and 1.4.4)

Hello,

Using both OpenAFS 1.4.2 (debian packages) and 1.4.4 (from source) we
have been unable to get "vos create" to succeed on sparc64 without
volserver crashing.  We're using glibc 2.3.6.

An strace on volserver looks something like this:

  # strace -p 3583
  Process 3583 attached - interrupt to quit
  rt_sigsuspend([]
  <<<<<<<invoke "vos create">>>>>>>
                        = ? ERESTARTNOHAND (To be restarted)
  PANIC: attached pid 3583 exited
  Process 3583 detached
  
On the client side, it looks like this:

  Could not change quota (error -1078527744), continuing...
     : No such file or directory
  Failed to end the transaction on the volume test101 536893291
  : No such file or directory
  Error in vos create command.
  : No such file or directory

Any suggestions on how to troubleshoot this?  Suboptimal workarounds
are welcome.

I believe this is the same problem which was also recently reported
here with 1.4.5:
