Yes, and no. There is support in the 1.5 branch for using some non-ext  
file systems, with a cache manager that's built with the --enable- 
linux-fh option. RT 123620 and 124184 contain further patches which  
extend this support to more filesystems (in particular those with  
large file handles) - these patches are yet to be applied.
