No, there is no failover from reading the RW when the RO goes away.
You should make another RO copy at the same partition where the RW
resides. They will share the space. If you allready have this, you
have encountered a bug.

UPGRADE! If it was a bug and the bug is still there AFTER the upgrade,
someone might look at it.
