Hello, John of printing fame!
After rehabilitating my typing fingers, as Andrew Deason suggests, I get
the following:
samuel> ls /afs/.afsdemo.cit.cornell.edu/users/rcc2
afs Private Yesterday
samuel> ls /afs/.afsdemo.cit.cornell.edu/users/rcc2/Yesterday
ls: cannot access /afs/.afsdemo.cit.cornell.edu/users/rcc2/Yesterday:
Connection timed out
samuel> fs exa /afs/.afsdemo.cit.cornell.edu/users/rcc2/Yesterday
fs: File '/afs/.afsdemo.cit.cornell.edu/users/rcc2/Yesterday' doesn't exist
samuel> fs lsm /afs/.afsdemo.cit.cornell.edu/users/rcc2/Yesterday
'/afs/.afsdemo.cit.cornell.edu/users/rcc2/Yesterday' is a mount point
for volume '#rcc2.backup'
samuel> vos exa rcc2.backup

samuel> fs exa /afs/.afsdemo.cit.cornell.edu/users/rcc2/Yesterday
fs: File '/afs/.afsdemo.cit.cornell.edu/users/rcc2/Yesterday' doesn't exist
But then:
samuel> fs checkvolumes
All volumeID/name mappings checked.
samuel> fs exa /afs/.afsdemo.cit.cornell.edu/users/rcc2/Yesterday
File /afs/.afsdemo.cit.cornell.edu/users/rcc2/Yesterday (536870926.1.1)
contained in volume 536870926
Volume status for vid = 536870926 named rcc2.backup
Current disk quota is 1100000
Current blocks used are 1000930
The partition has 9050308 blocks available out of 10208244
What I did previous to losing track of this backup volume was to move
volume "rcc2" from one server to another. Should that cause this kind
of behavior?
