[OpenAFS] Dots in path

Hello all,

We have deployed OpenAFS some weeks ago. Cell is composed of two servers
and the majority of our clients are windows 7.
We have configured things to allow dotted usernames do we could have
john.doe style usernames, among others.

Our user volumes are deployed like

/afs/cellname/user/a/au/auserlogin

A few days ago a user complained it could not access his volume. His
username is like "a.user" and so his volume mountpoint was

/afs/cellname/user/a/a./a.user

We were afraid that windows was refusing to cooperate with directories
named like "a." and so, we defined that in those cases the parent dir
for the volumes would be like "a.u".

I removed the mount point, created a new one, but still the user can't
access his volume. Windows keeps complaining about not being able to
access the volume, because it's not available.

This is a windows only matter and has nothing to do with ACLs since the
user can access the volume just fine when using a linux client.

Stanger part is that in the case of a "john.doe" user, mount point is
/afs/cellname/user/j/jo/jonh.doe and everything works just fine.

Please advise,

Hugo Monteiro.
