There isn't a convenient way. I'm not really sure why this is exposed as
a user-settable thing...

The easiest way I've found to clear it is to get the volume to be
reattached. The easiest way to do that I think is to do

vos size <volume> -dump

Or maybe 'vos offline ; vos online' or something.
