If this is just a test lab to get OpenAFS up and running, I'd
recommend the OpenAFS binary packages at elrepo.org. ELRepo uses kABI
to track RHEL kernels, which is pretty cool.

One thing to note is that ELRepo is still on OpenAFS 1.4, so you won't
get to play with the cool features in 1.6. But if you're just
interested in getting a client or a cell up and running on CentOS, it
is the path of least resistance.
