Can you run 1.6.1 instead? The instructions on
http://wiki.freebsd.org/afs-server mention
http://web.mit.edu/freebsd/openafs/openafs.shar, which appears to be
1.6.1. This problem should go away with 1.6.1.

There are other solutions to this, but 1.6.0 has major known issues, so
I think things will just be easier if you're not running that.
