That depends on what performance you are talking about, but for other
reasons I would guess 'yes'. OpenAFS fileservers have been found to
actually perform worse if you add too many cores (I think it was over 2
or 3; or at least you get very little benefit after that point, and
things get worse futher on). Hopefully that will get better, but for
now, yes, some people have addressed this by running fileservers in VMs,
zones, chroots, etc and allocating specific cores to fileserver
processes.
