You do NOT need to upgrade the clients on other machines. All client
versions are compatible with all server versions. The packaging may
require you to be running the same version of openafs-client and
openafs-fileserver on the same machine, though. (I don't remember
off-hand.)
There are advantages to upgrading the clients on other machines, too
(they should appear faster), but I think the advantages to upgrading the
server in this case may be far greater.
