Are you sure you are using freelance, and not a real root.cell volume?
everything you show below look like a real root.cell volume.
What does the registry have for freelance?

I was just looking a the Transarc 3.2 AFS manuals, and that is one of the
first things they had you do was to create the rw path to the cell. So it is
traditional that a reference to a .cell get you to the rw path.

Thanks, it looks like when the entry in a fake root.cell is added, if the
cell starts with a . add the .<cell>%<cell>:root.cell i.e. use % and drop the .

It created it on my system too, but Windows explorer showed no files, and
right clicking on the entry did not show the AFS as one of the options.
So it is there but not in afs. I contend that the entry added to the
freelance fake root.cell is not correct, as it says the cell is ".cell"

I tried the dir \\AFS\all\.dementia.org and the registry for frelance has
now has .dementia.org#.demintia.org
but:
dir \\afs\all\.dementia.org\*
The system cannot find the file specified.

Yes this looks correct. but that is not what I am seeing. Are you sure
you don't have a real root.cell? What I am seeing is that the fake root.cell
can not be written to.

Yes that is our cell.
