I just fired up our first server with large file support so I decided
it was time to boost the size of the cache on my MacOS X 10.3.8
system. I had been using a 2GB cache with the these afsd options
-chunksize 19 -stat 3200 -dcache 2400 -daemons 5 -volumes 128
-nosettime -fakestat -dynroot -afsdb
I changed the cache to 8GB and rebooted, it paniced on boot during
load, I then backed it down to 4GB and it booted by afsd didn't start.
I tried starting it by hand with no luck. Then I tried removing the
cache and rebooting. It booted but didn't load. I tried loading it by
hand. I got a bunch of these errors during startup of afsd.
Waiting for OpenAFS network file system
CreateCacheSubDir: Can't create '/var/db/openafs/cache/D167', error
return is -1 (17)
CreateCacheSubDir: Can't create '/var/db/openafs/cache/D168', error
return is -1 (17)
CreateCacheSubDir: Can't create '/var/db/openafs/cache/D169', error
return is -1 (17)
Waiting for OpenAFS network file system
CreateCacheSubDir: Can't create '/var/db/openafs/cache/D170', error
return is -1 (17)

Eventually it started and appears to work. I haven't stress tested it
yet. Does anyone have a working config with a cache greater than 2 GB?
Anything special I need to do to make it work?
Do I need to worry about those CacheSubDir's that it couldn't create?
Thanks,
