Hello,
I'm trying to run MPICH2 (which is, of course, outside the scope of
this list) and I'm running into a wierd AFS problem.

We've got MPICH2 running on our Xservers, running OS X 10.3., but
we're running afoul as follows:

I start the mpd daemon on one server:

mpd &
[2] 17866
[1] - Done mpd
$ mpdtrace -l
bp08.isis.unc.edu_55779

and on the second server:

mpd -h bp08 -p 55779 &
[1] 15449
$ configuration file /afs/isis/home/p/m/pmitchel/.mpd.conf is accessible
by others
change permissions to allow read and write access only by you

HUH? SO I check my permissions on my local SUN box:

ls -la .mpd.conf
-rw------- 1 pmitchel employee 21 2005-03-16 12:03 .mpd.conf

and everything is hunky-dory. However, a look on the second Xserver
reveals:

ls -la .mpd.conf
-rw-rw-rw- 1 pmitchel employee 21 Mar 16 12:03 .mpd.conf

AARGGH! NO wonder it's complaining!

Why are the permissions different?

Any info will be more than I have,

Paul Mitchell
