[OpenAFS-port-darwin] RC5 Kernel Panics

what is the best way to determine if the afs daemon (service) is=20
actually running?

I have a utility that provides the user a graphical front end to=20
mounting afs locations on the desktop and I need to ensure that afs is=20
functional and the user has a token prior to attempting to create a link=20
on the desktop. I've been using a shell call to determine this grepping=20
for afsd.

thanks
