[OpenAFS-port-darwin] Saving from MS Word fails, Unix permissions

Dear darwin maintainers,

there is some odd behaviour I'm trying to resolve:
We use afs with Linux servers for all the homedirs and I managed to  
have the same
Homedir also on a MacOS X 1.4 client. Most programs on the Mac are  
fine with it,
with the exception of Microsoft word:

It can save documents only once.
Afterwards at the second save it reports a problem with permissions  
on the target volume
(I can't repeat the message literally, it's the german version here)

Apparently the real save file is already gone at this time and only a  
word temp file is present in the directory.
Has anyone seen this behaviour before, is there a solution possible?

All other MS office programs have no problems at all, working on AFS
