I just commited a diff from Garrett Wollman that should make configure auto-detect the sysname for all versions of FreeBSD through 5.2. That should save you from having to spell it right. I got to the point of being able to build and load the kernel module and do the cache scan. Then it would panic trying to open CacheItems because the inode number was wrong.
