Sine Nomine Associates is pleased to announce availability of a volume repl=
ication tool for synchronizing volumes among OpenAFS cells within the same =
organization: CellCC ("Cell carbon-copy").

CellCC is primarily written in Perl; it uses remctl commands and a SQL data=
base for network communication. It is available on GitHub, here:

https://github.com/openafs-contrib/cellcc

CellCC is a set of tools and daemons to help you synchronize volumes betwee=
n AFS cells. A single organization may have multiple AFS cells under its co=
ntrol for any number of reasons, including:

 - Compartmentalizing AFS traffic or failures
 - Raising the max number of RO sites
 - Delegating cell maintenance duties

If an organization has such a setup, they may wish to release a volume to m=
ultiple cells. For example, to access an application in AFS from any one of=
the local cells in that organization, without needing to access any of the=
 other "remote" cells.

CellCC can act as an extended "vos release" in such setups. CellCC synchron=
izes volumes from a "source" AFS cell to a number of "destination" AFS cell=
s, relying on plain "vos release" to synchronize volumes within a single AF=
S cell. CellCC also attempts to be robust against failures, allowing for au=
tomatic retries of idempotent operations and is capable of detailed status =
reporting.

Sine Nomine is releasing CellCC under the ISC license (a simplified BSD lic=
ense). The actual license text can be seen here: https://github.com/openafs=
-contrib/cellcc/blob/master/LICENSE

Red Hat 7 RPMs for CellCC are available from Sine Nomine here:

Evan Macbeth
