I am preparing a few patches that should fix the installation problems.
Yes there is a problem with version number from 3.5 to later releases;
however this is due to the install script's "version checking" that was
used by the previous developers (Transarc). AFS has since evolved into a
healthy Open Source Community, its version numbering is different. This
issue will be fixed in version 1.1.1a.
I have set my machine name to "afs1" and had no problem mounting drives.
There is something else wrong! Is the root drive letter showing a
"disconnected" status (red x)? If so, dismount the driver letter using the
explorer and try the AFS Control Center to map the root drive again. Are
you using integrated logon?
One final niggle is to do with the account manager. It works fine the first
time it's run, but after that I seem to need to run TaAfsAdmSvr.exe by hand
first before the account manager will fire up.
Could you be more specific. There are some confusing behaviors with the
account manager and I would like to know what you're trying to do that
doesn't work for you.
