NFS mounting the partitions won't help you very much. In AFS you will see
mostly nothing. In OpenAFS you see lots of files with special names and you
may pick the files you want (if you're lucky in guessing), but still it's
not what you really want to have.

Not sure what you're intending here... The AFS-NFS translator presents AFS
data through an NFS interface, not the other way around. I don't see how it
would be useful to you for the purpose of retaining NetApp hardware.
You should probably just investigate NFS mounting the vice partitions (not
sure if that will work, but it's something you could try).
