Unless you're running afsd -fakestat, the cache manager should behave
exactly the same as before w.r.t. the fakestat modifications (all the
code path changes are conditioned on afs_fakestat_enable).  There are
still some bugs in the fakestat support for Linux, but that's beside
the point.
