What I gona write is not realy what You asked for... sorry ... but anyway:
Well not LDAP as You asked for.. of cause .. 
But we are about to build a AFS-Kerb4-Server which does the 
auth under cover against a Kerb5 server. 
This brings us here the opertunity to have no need to change the whide
spread clients.

There is an other approach called anything like "heimdal" .
this is a auth-Server which can deal with several protokolles for auth.
 
As I said, both of this is not what You asked for, on the other hand I
would recomend You to take a closer look at the protokolles, the potential
ability , and asecial in terms of secutity.  

If You (or anyone else) got deeper q's around Kerberos-auth go on asking
