[OpenAFS-devel] malloc failed to alloc enough memory translating ids

I'm trying to use openafs on AIX 4.3.3 (ml9). It compiled just fine, and
in fact runs great for the most part. However, anytime an afs app tries
convert a username to a user id # i get this:
bash-2.05a# /usr/afs/bin/pts examine <username>
/usr/afs/bin/pts: malloc failed to alloc enough memory translating ids
If I do the same command with the UID instead of the username, i get this:
bash-2.05a# /usr/afs/bin/pts examine <that same user's id#>
Name: <username>, id: <user id number>, owner: system:administrators,
creator: admin,
membership: 0, flags: S----, group quota: 20.
This seems to be causing problems with enabling afs tokens on login too (as
i assume that would have to convert usernames to UID's too). Any clue what
could be causing this? I've tried the 4.3.3 binaries from www.openafs.org
with the same error as compiling from source.
Btw, a windows client can connect just fine to this server (not automatic
on login right now, but i haven't actually tried), and klog <username>
works to get tokens from the AIX machine.
Thanks,
