Hi,
  does anyone has this problem too on Linux?
I don't have a problem with .gz archive.

$ bzip2 -dc openafs-1.3.75-src.tar.bz2 | tar xvf -
[...]
openafs-1.3.75/src/WINNT/doc/help/en_US/afs-light.CNT
openafs-1.3.75/src/WINNT/doc/help/en_US/afs-nt.CNT
openafs-1.3.75/src/WINNT/doc/help/en_US/taafscfg.cnt
openafs-1.3.75/src/WINNT/doc/help/en_US/taafscfg.hlp
openafs-1.3.75/src/WINNT/doc/help/en_US/taafssvrmgr.cnt
openafs-1.3.75/src/WINNT/doc/help/en_US/taafssvrmgr.hlp
tar: Skipping to next header
tar: Archive contains obsolescent base-64 headers

bzip2: Data integrity error when decompressing.
        Input file = openafs-1.3.75-src.tar.bz2, output file = (stdout)

It is possible that the compressed file(s) have become corrupted.
You can use the -tvv option to test integrity of such files.

You can use the `bzip2recover' program to attempt to recover
data from undamaged sections of corrupted files.
