[OpenAFS-devel] Why all the Automake stuff?

Speaking of confusing build system bits, I was a bit baffled by all the
Automake files for a while before I realized that they weren't actually
being used. Is this an abandoned project? Something that's still going
to be completed someday? Do you want help in getting it all to work
properly? Automake is definitely not my favorite application, but I'm
willing to bang on it if that's the direction that people want to go,
since I also find the existing makefiles rather repetative and a bit
confusing to trace at times. (Although I'm not sure Automake would
actually fix that....)

Alternately, if it's going to stay a science experiment for a while, maybe
it's worth a note somewhere to ignore it all? Personally, I'd put it on a
branch until it was ready if it isn't yet, since it's sort of confusing,
but that's just an aesthetic opinion.
