Senior AFS Engineer

The AFS team of Sine Nomine Associates provides support and development
services for customers of various industry sectors and sizes, who either use
OpenAFS, or consider migrating from Transarc AFS to OpenAFS, or intend to newly
implement OpenAFS.  Our AFS engineers are in direct contact with their
technical counterparts at the customers, and work together in a strongly
team-oriented manner.  Engineers take ownership of support and/or development
issues, and follow through from start to finish; it is expected that
supervision and project management remains minimal.

In this position, the engineer also participates in supporting the sales
efforts of Sine Nomine Associates.  Potential customers often will want to talk
to an engineer to discuss their specific needs, thus close cooperation with the
sales team is imperative for sales development as well as for continuous
delivery of top quality services and customer satisfaction

The position is available for work at our Ashburn, VA offices, or remotely
from a home office, provided you have the resources to do so.

POSITION RESPONSIBILTIES:

    - Resolution of support issues both in top quality and in a timely manner
    - Development of enhancements to OpenAFS, performed individually or in a
      team
    - Participation in pager rotation (one week every 6 weeks) for
      acknowledgement and routing of trouble tickets for 24/7 support
      contracts (AFS and other service contracts)
    - Support of sales team to determine customer needs and scope prospective
      projects
    - Cooperation with customer technical staff
    - Limited amount of travel

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION/REQUISITE EXPERIENCE:

    - Bachelor Degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent work
      experience
    - Minimum of 3-5 years of direct experience with AFS
    - Experience with 2 or more of the following: Solaris, Linux, HP-UX, IRIX,
      MacOS X
    - Experience with OpenAFS at the source code level
    - Highly proficient in C/C++
    - Solid communication and team work skills
    - Self-directed, goal-oriented work style with disciplined habits and
      minimal need for supervision and project management by another employee
    - Professionalism on all levels of interaction with colleagues and
      customers
