If I understand correctly, this patch shortens the client-to-server
ping interval to one minute so that the connection stays active as
seen by the firewall. I don't quite understand the server side
changes, though. In any case, having the ability to run AFS clients
on cluster nodes inside their private network to access foreign cells
is very much desirable.
