Block sizes vary across platforms. Ours (as used by fs) happens to be 1K. I am not advocating that we change our block sizes to match anyone else. I think I specifically advocated reporting in units of 1K blocks. That's what we do now, so I don't think I suggested a change there. What I did suggest was using "human readable" input and output styles.
