[OpenAFS-devel] AIX 6.1 openafs tarball doesn't work

Hi all!

I'd just like to notify you guys of the fact that 
http://www.openafs.org/dl/openafs/1.4.10/aix-6.1/rs_aix61.tar.gz 
doesn't work.

It seems that openafs userland, ie afsd et al, are built as 64bit 
binaries (probably due to the environment variable OBJECT_MODE=64). 
Upon starting openafs afsd segfaults.

As stated in the README, openafs needs to be configured and built with 
OBJECT_MODE=32 (or OBJECT_MODE unset). This is most likely due to the 
fact that nobody has bothered implementing the IOCTL's for 64bit 
userland.

Until someone fixes this (I looked at it, but got confused and then I 
got more urgent matters to tend to), configure/make on the AIX 
platform should probably just bail out if OBJECT_MODE=64.

To avoid this happening for future releases, I'd suggest changing 
OBJECT_MODE in /etc/environment on the build machine.
