If you are still looking to fix this, I assume the issues here are
similar if not the same as in this ticket:

If you are interested, please let us know so we can add you to that
ticket, and provide the information requested in that ticket (kdb
output, but for the process that's actually hanging if afsd itself is
not hanging). And/or, if you're willing to provide access to an AIX
machine, I could look at this more directly :)
