Does your autoexec.bat also have
     SET AFSCONF=C:\AFSCLI
     SET PATH=%PATH%;C:\AFSCLI

Exercise cache manager manually by doing the following steps:
1. Shut down AFS client
2. Bring up a DOS window (cmd.exe).
3 Start up the afs client:
     afsd -startup
4. Record any error messages
5. Send your response to me.

It's a trade-off. The question is, how highly distributed do we want
to be able to be? It would be nice if the 'openafs.org' cell (for one
example, central.org is another) could have servers located all around
the world. It would also be nice if physical access to any server
would not give you full access to the cell.

openafs.org actually has a server in Sweden as of 2 weeks ago. There has
been no official announcement yet.

Subject: [OpenAFS] Win 9X 1.1.1a client connection problem

Hi,

I am trying to connect a Win98 SE laptop to my work afs cell. The openAFS
Linux client works fine but the windows client just states "OnAFSEvent AFS
Client timed out , failure to respond Check Network Connection. Here is
the list from the log:

New Session:(17:47:20-010)
(17:47:19-950)Socket Connect
(17:47:20-010)AFS:StartupMicrosoft wsock32.dll, ver2.2, 32bit of Apr 22
1999, at 20:29:32.
(17:47:20-010)comctl32 5.81
(17:47:20-010)Shell32 4.72
(17:47:20-010)ADVAPI32 4.80
(17:47:35-280)Start AFSD Creation
(17:47:35-280)AFSD Creation done - wait for notification
(17:48:15-260)OnAfsEvent AFS Client timed out, failure to respond
Check Network Connection.
(17:48:15-260)AFS Client timed out, failure to respond

The network is fine since I am able to ping the afs servers from the
Windows box. The Linux open AFS client on the same box works fine and is
using the same CellServDB and ThisCell as the Windows machine.

Note: The Windows Open AFS install appeared to work fine and I rebooted.
When I first ran WinAFSLoad I got a message about Environment variable
AFSCONF missing .. so I just set it to c:\afscli and the error message went
away, but the connection problem still exits.

Subject: OpenAFS in HPUX

Hello all.

I was wondering, as much as I look around I do not see binaries for HPUX
11 or 11i. Not even for earlier versions of HPUX. Is it possible to port
the thing? Has anyone got binaries for the library files?

I have AFS from Transarc, a version I have been using since HPUX 9, but
the thing DOES NOT work with HPUX 11i (although it does with 11.0). I need
to move to 11i because of some other software that requires it.

Have you guys got any ideas? Hints?

Eduo

Subject: [OpenAFS] Error 42a from W2k?

I am having trouble getting this error while trying to start the service
under Win2k, and the system isn't even sending out any packets.
AFAIK my account has God rights on this system.
I have a Samba 2.x domain running fine with this system as a client.

TIA,

Eric
