[OpenAFS] compiling 1.1.1a with Linux 2.4.8

Hi!
I am trying to compile 1.1.1a wuth gcc 2.96 and kernel 2.4.8. As it says in BUILDNOTES 
"src/venus/kdump may fail to compile" which is exactly what happend to me. The file,
however, does not say what I have to do to fix it. Can anyone explain, please?
