Dunno about Red Hat, but SuSE's are quite well documented; "man 7 init.d",
a chapter in the SuSE Handbook, and several SDB entries which provide some
additiona explanations/clarifications from the standpoint of upgrading from
the pre-7.1 init.d (which was modeled on OSF/1) to the 7.1+ version (LSB).
