Hi,

I have been running two different cells, one exclusively with Intel hardw=
are,=20
and another one with Sun hardware. The sun fire v880 which is the server =
(all=20
server processes) for the sun cell is running now openafs 1.2.8 and is=20
performing at least 10x slower than the server running on rh linux8/intel=
=20
(which is also running openafs 1.2.8)

The sun server is not running a namei fileserver, and it has a scsi raid =
5, so=20
i would expect that it would perform better then the intel, which is runn=
ing =20
namei fileserver with ide hard drives.

When i do a cross cell mount, from the sun clients i get excellent perfor=
mance=20
to the linux/intel server (from the bench mark utility i am using (from=20
iozone.org), even better performance than if i were using nfs).

The installation in all systems is using the binaries provided from the=20
OpenAFS web site. I have looked in the manual for any settings in the=20
fileserver that could speed up the transfers in the solaris fileserver, b=
ut=20
didn't have any luck.

Any help would be much appreciated!
