Derek mumbled something about inode initialization code and semaphores, and
there were differences in the way some inode stuff was initialized between
(at least) the 2.4.10 kernel and libafs from 1.2.2 - apparently on my box (an
SMP box, btw) it caused hangs, and moving to the CVS version (which has
slightly updated code there) worked for me.
