[OpenAFS] OpenAFS client install problem on RH 7.3

Derek,

Thanks for your reply. I have determined it is not a hardware problem. I
have reproduced the event on 4 different machines. 3 IBM XSeries 330, and
1 IBM XSeries 350, all with dual Xeon CPUs.

I can install RH 7.3 and reboot with no problems. All file systems, EXT3,
are dismounted correctly. I rebuilt one machine this morning to test
this, and rebooted it many times. Only after installing OpenAFS 1.2.4,
does this problem show up. This is with both the linux kernel
2.4.18-3smp, and 2.4.18-4smp. I do not see this on a small workstation I
did last week with a single processor, and 2.4.18-3 kernel.

When OpenAFS is installed the /usr file system becomes unstable. I cannot
uninstall using rpm -e. And, the reboot process hangs indefinitely until
the reset button is pressed. Not a good situation.

As far as my testing shows, it is either a bug in the OpenAFS
kernel/client code or the linux kernel. At least their interaction.

Any response is welcome. I can provide you with more data if you need.
Thanks.
