Are you sure that the client on the machine is openafs ?
We crashed the client, not the server-processes.

what does the following command say:

$ rxdebug <server> 7001 -version

As soon as you report that the client is openafs, we will install
openafs-1.2.3 and start to trigger the bug on our AIX-machines over here.
