Are you sure that the client on the machine is openafs ?
We crashed the client, not the server-processes.

what does the following command say:

$ rxdebug <server> 7001 -version

However, we have no IRIX-machine to test on.

I am pretty sure that i am responsible for your crashes, i might have
escaped logging because crashes normaly appear a few hours after the
scanning.
