[OpenAFS] OpenAFS directory update is SLOW. Performance tuning?

Same repository, much more remote AFS client:

infinity(2)>date; cvs update -d .>&/dev/null; date
Thu Mar 21 16:03:14 CST 2002
Thu Mar 21 16:03:24 CST 2002

10 seconds on that one for the same update that took Derrick 51.=20

I'd say it has alot to do with your network, the client machine, the
contents of your cache, etc.=20

How well does it run on your machine the second time you do the cvs
update?
