Yes.

Yes. I especially told him to build the 2.4.17 kernel and a kernel
module for it using the openafs-kernel-source RPM. Still no luck. I
suspect the afsd to be corrupted somehow, so I've now instructed him to
rebuild the all RPMs - let's see whether this helps.
