Dear everyone,

I know nothing about AFS or OpenAFS, but I am familiar with Samba. I am
working at a very heterogeneous environment that is a true mixture of Sun,
Linux, Windows, MacOSX machines, a university as some have correctly
guessed. We are planning to build a schools file server and wonder which
approach to choose.

The main criteria are:

1) Centralized accounting.

2) Single file system tree.

3) Convenience for users

4) Robustness, low maintenance on client side.

Total number of users varies from 50 to 400.

Should we use Samba or invest some some time into OpenAFS.

Any recommendations including references to published material, or
examples of OpenAFS in action are very welcome.

Thank you in advance.

Ivan.
