If you're talking about running a Heimdal + OpenAFS *Server* on SuSE
9.0, you have to enable 524 in the kdc.conf file or the [kdc] section
of the krb5.conf file on the KDC (How to do this is explained in the
krb5.conf manpage, which I don't have available at the moment).

The Heimdal + OpenAFS Clients (!) shipped with SuSE 9.0 will work
right out of the Box (after some configuration in YaST). kinit will
get OpenAFS tokens for you, if possible.

Compiling kth-krb4 before heimdal is not necessary any more with
heimdal 0.6.

HTH
Kind regards
