You mean you have a client running on the server??
Otherwise fs won't make much sense, would it??
I mean what good is setting the ACL on /afs when that's not your AFS 
mountpoint. Since you talked about unmounting AFS I presume you have a 
client.

You loaded the kernel module and started afsd, right??
