[OpenAFS] HPUX 11.0 / 1.2.11 client hang

We are having trouble with one of our HPUX 11.0 machines
that runs the 1.2.11 client.  Frequently used binaries
like emacs and vim that are served out of AFS periodically
cause hanging processes.  Once the problem starts, any attempt
to run the file in question causes the resulting process to
just hang.

I cannot attach a debugger nor trace the system calls using
tusc.  Any ideas on how to debug this?

My current workaround is to replace the bad file with a copy
of itself and then "vos rel".
