Hmm, the same file with different permissions based on directory.

I can see newbies loving that, but security people hating it.

AFS must have a static inode system that it presents to the kernel or 
else NFS from AFS would be nothing but trouble, but I've heard of that 
setup working with AFS, so there must be some infrastructure already in 
place that would support per file permissions...
