BTW, why can't AFS allow hard links within a single volume? Doesn't the client know where separate volumes are mounted in the /afs tree? The problem is that file acls are actually attached to the file's parent directory, not to the file. I'd like to see this fixed but I doubt it will happen in our lifetimes.
